Cinnamon, spicy, sweet, and woody, is a treat for our taste buds, but also for our hair!

Indeed, cinnamon powder like its essential oil is included in our beauty products. In hair care or as a mask, it promotes hair growth, slows hair loss, cleanses the scalp, and even has a lightning power.

Let’s discover all these benefits and how to integrate cinnamon into your hair routine.

What are the benefits of cinnamon for hair?

Cinnamon is a healthy ally for our hair. Antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, toning, and stimulating, your hair will be radiantly beautiful!

1. Cinnamon promotes hair growth

Thanks to its toning properties, cinnamon essential oil stimulates blood circulation in the scalp. Thus, it provides the necessary nutrients to the hair follicles. Result? Your hair is nourished, and fortified and therefore grows faster.

Used in hair care, cinnamon improves growth while giving more shine to our hair.

2. Cinnamon prevents hair loss

We have just seen that cinnamon has stimulating properties. And it is this micro-circulation of the scalp that will prevent hair loss.

Indeed, hair follicles full of nutrients are stronger and more resistant. Your hair will therefore be denser and full of vitality.

3. Cinnamon helps fight oily hair

The Cinnamon essential oil has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It, therefore, soothes irritated scalps and regulates excess sebum.

Indeed, you can use it in care with vegetable oil for about thirty minutes before your shampoo.

Thus, cinnamon helps relieve irritation and itching. As a bonus, it can help you get rid of dandruff.

4. Cinnamon lightens hair

Ceylon cinnamon is also used in cosmetics for its lightning power. Indeed, it contains natural peroxidase which allows it to lighten the hair.

Of course, do not expect to go from brunette to blonde! But instead to obtain a lighter shade and all in a natural way.

To lighten hair, you should use ground cinnamon and not the essential oil. But we give you a recipe a little further!

Disadvantages of Cinnamon for hair?

As you know, essential oils should always be used with care. In particular, they are prohibited for pregnant and breastfeeding women and for children under 12 years old.

So, the cinnamon essential oil is no exception. Especially since cinnamon is dermo caustic, that is to say, it can burn the skin and it is allergenic.

In other words, its use on the skin and hair requires taking precautions. So before you start, you should perform a test in the crook of your elbow and wait 24 hours to check that you have no allergic reaction.

Likewise, do not use cinnamon essential oil alone. You must mix it with vegetable oil, or with your shampoo.

In all cases, it is advisable to seek advice from a professional before using any essential oils in order to verify that there are no contraindications.
