From a very young age, we learn how important it is to untangle your hair after showering or bathing to remove knots.

And who has never heard that you brush your hair 100 times a day to keep it shiny and healthy?

But in fact, do you know how to go about displaying disciplined hair?

Well, above all, you have to understand that it depends on your hair type, and that depending on that, you have to choose the accessory that best suits your needs.

Indeed, we will not use the same comb or brush depending on whether we have frizzy, smooth, thick, or fine hair.

Moreover, do comb and brush perform identical functions?

To make the right choice, follow our advice!

The comb, to detangle your hair above all

The comb is an essential accessory in our bathrooms. You should use it mainly after shampooing to detangle wet hair.

What is a comb used for?

A comb helps to remove the knots that form in your hair, especially if it is long. Good detangling is essential to display neat hair, whatever it’s cut.

But the comb is not limited to this use: depending on the model, it can also be used to create hairstyles.

Finally, a comb can also find its place in your pharmacy. Yes, it is an effective accessory to get rid of lice and nits!

What are the different types of comb?

The comb can be declined in various forms or materials.

The most common is the cheap plastic comb. But, it is not necessarily the softest with your hair. However, it has the advantage of being water resistant and can therefore be used in the shower to apply hair care, for example.

You can also find wooden combs: they have the advantage of not making your hair electric when styling.

This tool is also more respectful of your hair fiber. Small and flat, it necessarily supports humidity less well, and its use will therefore be on dry hair.

To detangle your hair, you can opt for a horn comb.

This accessory is considered the luxury model of the comb. The horn is made up of keratin (like your hair), it protects the hair fiber during detangling.

In addition, its use promotes the proper distribution of sebum on your lengths.

Comb: for whom?

The comb adapts to all types of hair, just select a suitable model.

If your hair is curly, thick, and frizzy, using a wide-toothed, wide-toothed comb is perfect for avoiding unwanted breakage.

Fine, straight hair prefers a tighter-toothed comb. In this way, the disentangling will be done in good conditions.

The tail comb is useful for performing sophisticated hairstyles or for drawing lines with precision.

In short, the choice of a comb should not be done on a whim!

How (and when) to use your comb?

Use your wide-tooth comb correctly so you don’t damage your curly or frizzy hair.

Indeed, you have to start by untangling the wet lengths before going back to the roots (from the bottom up), a technique that you don’t always necessarily think of.

Avoid the comb once your hair is dry, and prefer the fingers to put them back during the day.

If your hair is fine and straight, do not hesitate to unsheathe your comb after a gust of wind, for example, in order to discipline it. By combing them upside down, you will give volume and take off your roots.

And backcombing can also save you the day to gain hair mass!

The hairbrush, to discipline your hair

Whether to discipline, smooth, or style, the brush is a basic accessory for your hair.

What is a hairbrush used for?

A hairbrush allows you to air your hair while distributing the sebum on the lengths for more shine. In addition, brushing eliminates dust and impurities, but also residues of styling products.

Its use is also effective in stimulating the scalp by activating micro-circulation.

What are the different types of hairbrushes?

As with the comb, it is better to avoid all-plastic brushes and favor a natural material.

The boar bristle brush is particularly interesting because it is made of keratin, just like our hair!

There are several shapes of hairbrushes depending on your hair type.

The flat brush is useful for detangling your hair after the shower, while the pneumatic brush on the air cushion is ideal for styling your hair on dry hair.

The round brush is perfect for disciplining your hair using the hair dryer when you are doing your brushing, for example. Choose it in ceramic for an optimal result!

Hairbrush: for whom?

The hairbrush is suitable for all hair types. Is your hair straight? You will appreciate its use all the more.

Indeed, this accessory is recommended to give shine to fine and dull hair. For more volume at the roots, brush your hair in all directions to loosen the roots.

In fact, you will find on the market detangling brushes, in the shape of a rake, specially adapted to your curly or frizzy hair. They will prevent breakage and stimulate the micro-circulation of the scalp.

Your hair is thick? Opt for a large format brush, oval or square, in boar bristles or mixed, with nylon.

How (and when) to use your hairbrush?

Ideally, you should brush twice a day for about 1 minute. You can use it morning and evening on dry or damp hair.

Small precision: on curly, frizzy, or Afro hair, detangling is done on wet and towel-dried hair so as not to break the curls. During the day, it is better to work your curls with your finger or a wide-toothed comb.

On straight hair, whether fine or thick, do not hesitate to brush twice a day to bring vitality and shine to your hair.

After each brushing, do not forget to remove the dead hair stuck between the pimples or bristles using a fine comb. Clean your brush at least every 4 weeks with a mixture of water and mild shampoo.
