Hair, especially when wet, is a fragile fiber. It is necessary to treat them with precaution otherwise they become dry or brittle. Here are some common mistakes to avoid when you have wet hair.
Wet hair: what to avoid to keep your hair beautiful
To have beautiful healthy hair, it is generally preferable to let it breathe! We, therefore, avoid anything that could harm the hair fiber: coloring, brushing, repetitive smoothing… But also, certain simple gestures that we do mechanically when leaving the shower.
1. Brushing
One of the first things you do to take care of your wet hair? A stroke of the brush! However, this gesture should be avoided, since the brush will weaken the hair.
Also, it will leave the hair more electric or too voluminous, if curly, when it goes to dry.
It is best to detangle the hair with a comb made of natural material, with wide teeth.
2. Dry your hair with a towel
One of the most common mistakes when you have wet hair! We hasten to dry them with a towel. But drying your hair with a towel, especially vigorously, breaks the hair fiber.
It is best to wring out your hair by hand. The idea is to wait until they dry naturally: we avoid hot hair dryers as much as possible. If you are in a hurry, gently pat them with a microfiber towel.
3. Tie up your hair after shampooing
After the shower, we often have the reflex to tie up our wet hair. This is also an error: indeed, the attached hair will be weakened at the level of the elastic.
Also, you’ll keep the mark of the rubber band on the hair as it dries and speeds knot formation.
Leave your hair loose when wet to let it breathe.
4. Apply products to wet hair
There are several care ranges to apply after the shampoo, without rinsing: care oils, repairing serums… You can of course apply them to your hair, but it is better to wait for a little after getting out of the shower.
It is preferable that your hair is damp and not wet: if it is still waterlogged, the product will slip and prove ineffective.
5. Fall asleep with wet hair
Did you take a late shower and your hair is still wet before going to bed? According to an old grandmother’s adage, going to bed with wet hair would cause torticollis…
Difficult to prove, the fact remains that it can cause, in addition to bad folds on your hair, itching, or even fungal infections on the scalp because of the humidity.
Better to postpone your shampoo until the next morning.
