Benefits of CBD Oil for Anxiety

CBD or cannabidiol is an active ingredient in hemp whose effects on health and well-being are now recognized. In recent years, CBD has increasingly interested the scientific community in its positive effects on various psychological disorders.

CBD comes in different forms: flowers, resins, and, certainly the most famous, the form of oil. The latter consists of natural vegetable oil and hemp extract, the dosage of which varies. How can CBD oil help people with anxiety?

Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural adaptive response. It corresponds to a  state of alert making it possible to mobilize our resources to face a threat or avoid danger. Anxiety is thus manifested by a  sensation or feeling of diffuse fear.

It becomes pathological and is a source of suffering when this worry becomes chronic and/or when it occurs outside of an anxiety-provoking situation.

When anxiety persists without a particular event, we speak of anxiety disorders which, unfortunately, affect an ever-increasing population. The women are more affected by anxiety disorders, as well as from 25 to 44 years.

Anxiety can be managed with psychotherapy. Sometimes a  drug response is required, which is not without side effects.

You can find CBD in tobacco shops, specialty stores, and of course, online. How does this molecule act on the body?

The endocannabinoid system

We all know about the nervous system and the immune system, or at least their major functions. But have you ever heard of the endocannabinoid system?

Discovered barely 30 years ago, the endocannabinoid system or SEC is a  communication system made up of receptors located in our brain and in our immune system.

These receptors are activated by cannabinoids, molecules present in CBD but also naturally in the body. Cannabinoids play a crucial role in cellular homeostasis, in other words in the balance of cells allowing the maintenance of major functions such as body temperature, blood sugar, heart rate, weight, etc.

CBD and anxiety: scientists agree

There is a lot of research looking at the effect of CBD on anxiety. Among them, a Brazilian study showed that CBD acts directly on the receptors for serotonin, this neurotransmitter that regulates mood and is associated with a state of well-being when present at a balanced rate. It is moreover this mechanism of action that is involved in the taking of certain anxiolytics.

Other studies have corroborated the result, showing that CBD has positive effects on anxiety but also on stress, sleep, and depression. And that’s what many users testify to.

How to measure CBD oil?

The effectiveness of CBD varies greatly from one individual to another. The dosage will therefore depend on the anxiety disorder itself, that is to say, its age and its intensity, but also according to the person himself, in particular his weight.

People who have never taken CBD oil are advised to start with low dosages. In general, three doses of five to ten drops of 5-10% CBD oil are suggested per day, directly under the tongue.

The advantage of CBD is that it causes few side effects other than a dry mouth or mild drowsiness.
