Sore throat: 10 natural sore throat tips

The burning, irritation, and pain that accompany a sore throat sometimes make it difficult to talk or swallow food simply. Here are some tips to relieve these discomforts.

1. Gargle with salt water or baking soda

Salt water gargle is an effective home remedy that helps relieve sore throat. Salt acts as a mild antiseptic while helping to extract water from the lining of the throat. Dissolve half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water, gargle with this solution and spit it out, several times a day. You can also gargle with a solution of water and baking soda.

2. Honey

Thanks to its antibacterial and antitussive properties, honey can speed up the healing of sore throats. Honey also exerts a hypertonic and osmotic action, that is, it extracts water from inflamed tissues, alleviating swelling and pain. Add a few teaspoons to a cup of hot water, or to an infusion.

3. Vitamin C
